Found a Stray?

What to do when you find a stray:

  • Call to determine availability for a microchip scanning of the animal. For a faster response time, contact us at info@jeffersoncountyspca.org

  • Please refer to the map below to find your location’s dog control officer.

  • The SPCA contracts with the Town of LeRay for Dog Control and Fort Drum for Dog and Cat Control. Strays brought to us will be vaccinated and owners will be charged a housing and vaccination fee.

  • We accept stray cats that pass a behavioral and medical examination, if a cage is available.

  • We do not accept feral cats and will refer you to our TNR program as an alternative solution.

  • Check local Facebook Pages for Jefferson County / North Country lost and found pets

  • Make a social media post on your own page and share to help find the animal's owner

  • We do not investigate animal cruelty. You must call the Jefferson County Sheriffs @ 315-786-2601
