About us:

The SPCA of Jefferson County is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1891 to help protect and care for domestic animals in Jefferson County. We are the only no-kill facility in the area, as well as being the only shelter to accept owned dogs, stray and owned cats, or small critters of any kind in the county. Our shelter also has the only early-age spay/neuter before adoption program in Jefferson county.

As a non-profit organization, our service to the community depends on the donations that we receive from the general public as well as from our varied fund-raising events.
Mission Statement
The SPCA of Jefferson County is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent and loving homes for homeless pets, providing them with a healthy environment, and promoting the humane treatment of animals and responsible pet ownership through education and community awareness.

INTERESTED IN HELPING THE SHELTER?
The most direct way to help is by donating your time or by donating financially. It’s easy to become a member. Simply print off the application & then send it with a check to the address listed on the application. Or if you prefer, you can always stop into the shelter with your application or call us with a credit card. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please download & fill out a volunteer application. We hold our Volunteer Orientations on Wednesday nights at 6:30PM.   Please check for the next available orientation meeting in the upcoming events link. Our minimum age requirement for volunteers is 10 years old WITH a PARENT or GUARDIAN, who has also been through an orientation meeting. If you are between the ages of 15 and 17, a parent or guardian must authorize your ability to volunteer and sign a liability waiver.  There are many different types of volunteers.  Please check the volunteer application to see if there is something you are interested in!

Please note that we are not capable of helping with wildlife or abuse cases.  If you suspect animal abuse or neglect please call your local or state police.
